Fresh snow, rains in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Kashmir valley had fresh spell of light snowfall in upper reaches and rains in plains with Meteorological department forecasting wet spell for next 24 hours.
A MeT official said the upper reaches of Valley including Sonamarg, Drass, Zojila, Afarwat and Gulmarg received light snowfall.  “However, there is forecast of moderate snowfall during the night,” he said. The snowfall also occurred along Mughal Road at Peer Ki Gali.
The plains of Valley including Srinagar city received light rainfall today. With the onset of winter, the cold wave continues to grip Valley from past over one week.
The day temperature in Srinagar today was 15.1 degree Celsius while the night temperature was 5 degrees Celsius. The day temperature in Gulmarg was 4.2 degree Celsius while the night temperature -3.4 degree Celsius.
The MeT official said there is forecast of rain and thundershower for next 24 hours. “Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 13 and 4 degrees Celsius respectively,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Leh highway today was reopened for traffic after remaining closed due to snowfall.
