JAMMU, May 19: Shiv Sena (UBT) here today flayed the Central Government over the second hike in petrol and diesel prices within four days.
In a handout Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni termed the hike as an economic assault on the common people and claimed that the soaring inflation has broken the backbone of ordinary citizens.
He said that the country’s youth are already suffering from unemployment, while small businesses and industries continue to face economic slowdown and declining market activity.
The Shiv Sena leader stated that the prices of food items, cooking gas, transport and other essential commodities have already become unaffordable for the common man.
He said that the situation in J&K is even more serious where higher transportation costs directly impact the prices of food supplies, vegetables, fruits, construction material and other daily-use items.
Sahni urged the Centre to reduce excise duty on petroleum products and introduce effective measures to control inflation.
