SRINAGAR : Following heavy snowfall during the past 24 hrs, a fresh avalanche warning has been issued in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.
The entire Kashmir valley experienced heavy to very snowfall during the past 24 hrs and there was forecast of snowfall during the next 24 hours.
The authorities have issued fresh avalanche warning in the upper reaches, including Keran, Karnah, Machil, Tangdhar, Sadhna and Razdan passes, Jawahar tunnel, Banihal and higher reaches in Kargil district.
People living in avalanche prone areas are advised to avoid moving out of their houses to avoid any accident. However, in case of any emergency extra precautions should be taken, the administration said.
“Keep cleaning the snow deposition from roof tops of the houses and bankers to avoid any untoward incident during the snowfall,” he said, adding that people were also advised to temporarily evacuate from those locations which are under the line of avalanche.
