Freedom fighters, martyrs remembered

JAMMU, Sept 27: Freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives in the fight against British rule for the freedom of the country were remembered in a function of J&K Freedom Fighters organized by its president Ved Gandotra while celebrating the 107th birth anniversary of Shahid Bhagat Singh.
The function was held at Bal Niketan Ved Mandir where children chanted National Anthem and paid floral tributes to S Bhagat Singh.
Sweets were also distributed among the children on the occasion.
S Harinder Singh a social worker was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion Chairman B L Gupta, president Ved Gandotra, Chander Shekhar, Rohit Bali and Mr Gautam threw light over the life history of S Bhagat Singh and his dynamism which attracted the attention of all the citizens of the whole world, especially the Indians who were still ignorant of the freedom struggle. They recalled the services of Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Maharani Luxmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Lala Lajpat Rai, Madan Mohan Malviay and other martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed every thing to make India free of British rule.
The members exhorted the citizens of India, women and youth to follow the path of sacrifice devotion, high moral values and dedication shown by the martyrs and freedom fighters and awake to fight social evils, drug abuse among the youth, dowry system, corruption and poverty.
Brij Mehra, Ramesh Tak, Tej Ram Dogra, Anil Sharma, Taninder Singh, Bablu Chowdary, Mubariz Khan, Ranjeev Dasrmat and Chander Mohan were present on the occasion.
