JAMMU, Apr 12:  To remember great warrior, General Zorawar Singh, who conquered Tibet, Gilgit, Afghanistan and all adjoining hilly areas, under the Kingdom of Maharaja Gulab Singh, J&K Freedom Fighters Association today organized a function, here.
Floral tributes were paid to the great legend and candles were lit in his honour. Sweets were also distributed among the participants and the students of Luthra Academy, Kachi Chawni who were also present there to pay tributes to the great soul. The students sung National Anthem.
The speakers threw light over the life history of General Zorawar Singh, who was born in 1786 in Bilaspur village of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. From his childhood, he was very clever and a brave personality. Maharaja Gulab Singh appointed him as General of the State. To spread the Kingdom of Maharaja Gulab Singh, General Zorawar Singh conquered Tibet, Gilgit, Baltistan and Afghanistan and affiliated them with the Jammu and Kashmir State.
The members remembered his daring deeds to fight the enemy in swear cold atmosphere under -40°C. They added that General Zorawar Singh, was an example for the youth of today, that strong will can achieve every goal.
The function was organized by the Association president   Ved Gandotra  while R C Puri KAS (retd) was chief guest on the occasion.
Those who participated in the function, included State president of  Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan, Rajeev Charak, Rajinder Singh, Brig Mehra, Parbhat Kapahi, R R Raina,  Raj Kumar,  Darshan Sharma, Ajeet Singh Adyal, Anshika Manhas and  Anita Raina.
