JAMMU, Jan 14: Motor Vehicle department under the aegis of ARTO Reasi organized a medical camp-cum-awareness programme at Pouni Domail to observe Road Safety Week under Swachhta Pakhwada in collaboration with Rotary Club Eye Hospital Udhampur.
As many as 140 drivers were checked, of which 5 were found with some issues related to low vision and night blindness. They were given spot treatment and advised to come for the follow up. ARTO told that the purpose of this camp was to ensure that people with poor eyesight are not allowed to drive, especially in foggy conditions.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rajesh Gupta interacted with the drivers and assured them that Transport Department would organise more such camps in near future. He stressed on all the participants especially the drivers to follow the safety norms while driving on roads. He said the role of a driver is very crucial for the safety of precious lives as well as lives of commuters specifically during the transition period.
