SRINAGAR, June 7: Awantipora Police today said to have arrested a fraudster who collected Rs 40,000 fraudulently from a person for release of his son from Police Station Khrew.
A police spokesperson said that the Police Station Khrew received a complaint from Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Sharshali Khrew that one person identified as Rafiq Ahmad Badam son of Abdul Rashid resident of Wuyan Khrew has taken Rs 40,000 from him for releasing his son from Police Station Khrew by making an impression that he needs the money for Police Station Khrew.
Police said that although the son of complainant identified as Mohammad Younis Bhat was called by Police in connection with investigation of case FIR No 56/2019 of P/S Khrew for questioning purpose but was released by Police Station Khrew immediately after questioning.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 30/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khrew and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, the involved accused fraudulent person identified as Rafiq Ahmad Badam was arrested and Rs 40,000 was also recovered from him.
