Fratricides in Army

Fratricidal killings among officers and jawans in the Army are highly disquieting.  Defence authorities are worried about these happenings. Most of these killings take place in conflict areas like J&K.   But more recent reports say that even in peace areas also such unexpected tragedies have been happening. Authorities at Defence Ministry have asked concerned organs to study the matter and submit suggestions how tension and frustration can be controlled among the jawans and officers on scientific basis. There can be many causes for this aberrant behaviour, partly family and partly professional. Rigours of discipline in war zone areas can      also cause loss of patience and psychological stability among the soldiers at various levels. Sometimes there appears a gap in interaction among the jawans and that forces,  some to succumb to brute nature in human beings and give vent to extreme vengeance. The question of keeping the jawans busy through sports, entertainments and some sort of social activities would go a long way in helping them control their emotions.
Whatever be the case, the Government has done the right thing of asking a report from experts and studying it at highest level. We are hopeful the study will pinpoint the essential causes of frustration among the jawans and officers and find a remedy for the same.
