JAMMU, Jan 9: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) headed by its president Anil Sharma today held a special meeting with the temporary guards and gardeners of Rural Development Department hailing from all the ten districts of Jammu division at its headquarter here.
While addressing the participants, AJKPC president extended his organization’s full support to these temporary appointed workers and vowed to stand with them in thick and thin.
Sharma said it is unfortunate that the officers are sitting in their cozy chambers and these poor workers are compelled to suffer in chilling winters as well as in feverous summers.
He reiterated the demand of the AJKPC for formulation of a policy for welfare and justice with these 1200 temporary Maali and Chowkidaars which includes long pending demand of conducting their bio-metric attendance, release of their wages and recognizing them similar with the regular daily wagers of the J&K government. The AJKPC leader said apart from technical and legal issues there is also a human angle as a major chunk of these temporary workers are now over aged and are not eligible for any other job and they have families to feed thus it is imperative that government takes a serious view of their genuine demands.
On this occasion, with the assent of the participants, Sharma also designated Shahnawaz Zargar as convener (Jammu Division) to liaison and present the issues of these guards and gardeners and asked him to work honestly for the rights of his colleagues. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks wherein all the participants thanked the AJKPC president for raising all the issues of all vulnerable sections of the society irrespective of cast, creed, region and religion.
Prominent elected PRIs who participated include BDC Chairperson Bandipora Nazeer Ahmed Khan, Shahnawaz Malik , Dev Dutt, Abdul Rashid, Magweer Chaudhary, Ajaz Ahmed, Azad Ahmed, Nagesh Kumar, Bashir Shah, Uttam Kumar and Krishan Singh.
