This will allow residents of Jammu and neighbouring areas to have access to leading healthcare experts from Fortis Escorts, Ohkla Road, under Dr Vivek Vij, Director, Liver Transplant Program, Fortis Healthcare Ltd.
The OPD services and facilities are another patient-centric step taken by the healthcare provider to deliver quality healthcare through world-class services. Present at the launch were Dr Vivek Vij and his team of surgeons who conducted a day-long OPD at MaxxLyfe Hospital. Day 1 of the OPD turned out to be a huge success with about 30 patients turning up. This OPD will be open to patients once in a month from 10 AM to 1 PM at MaxxLyfe Hospital.
“It is no surprise that liver and biliary diseases are affecting those from Tier II cities and the disease trend is growing rapidly. We have regular patients from this region who are affected from alcoholic liver leading to liver sclerosis and those affected due to Hepatitis B. The trend has grown by 4-5 times over the past five years and close to 200 patients at various stages of the disease, are travelling to the capital city for treatment/transplants,” explained Dr Vij.
“Through the programme, we not only endeavour to educate people on the benefits of a healthier lifestyle and provide expert consultation, but also generate awareness for our Liver Transplant Programme,” explained Dr Kousar Ali Shah, Zonal Director, Fortis Escorts.
Dr Vij has conducted over 1,000 successful liver transplants with as high as 98% success rates. He has also been bestowed with prestigious awards for his contribution in this field.
