Former MP, MLC call on Governor

JAMMU, Jan 6: Sheikh Abdul Rehman, former Member Parliament, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Sheikh Rehman discussed with the Governor several matters of public welfare, need for ensuring the inclusive development of the State and maintaining societal harmony.
Meanwhile, a deputation led by Nizamudin Khatana, former MLC, called on Governor.
The deputation apprised the Governor about the various hardships being faced by the Gujjar community; need to provide suitable rehabilitation for the Gujjars and Bakerwals who are being moved out of the forest lands where they have been living for decades; enabling the nomadic population to live in suitable habitats which should be built under the P.M’s Special Package; and the urgent need to provide quality medicines for the timely treatment of the livestock of the nomadic groups.
The Governor agreed to take up the problems raised by Mr. Khatana.
