JAMMU, June 24: Former Member-Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas started the macadamization of 2.25 km long Muthi Morh-Ranbir Canal road in Lower Roop Nagar along with Councillor Tripta Devi.
While addressing the gathering, Manhas said that blacktopping of Muthi Morh to Ranbir Canal Road in Lower Roop Nagar will provide better connectivity to the residents of both wards and will help in improving traffic congestion.
While appraising the people, he said that the macadamization of this road was delayed by an year because of the tussle between two departments as the road was in the domain of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) but they were neither macadamizing it nor handing it over to Public Works Department (PWD). Now after lot of interventions by him, the road has been handed over to PWD and subsequently its macadamization has been started, he added.
He said that PWD is taking necessary steps to complete pending works in a shorter time period.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi leadership, the average road macadamization in J&K has been increased to 20.6 km per day in last three years as compared to 6.54 km per day before 2019, which reflects the progressing development happening across Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Tripta Devi stated that dozens of developmental works that were recommended by former Member-Parliament will be taken up in coming days in various areas.
Prominent among those who were present were Mandal-Pradhan Muthi-Paloura Suresh Khajuria, Joginder Manhas, Tara Chand, Girdhari Lal, Rajinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Jamwal.
