RAMBAN, Apr 13: Former MLA, Ashok Kumar has urged Lieutenant Governor to restore 4G (Fourth Generation) internet services immediately in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the Apex Court had already questioning the Government of India to respond to the plea seeking direction to restore 4G internet services in J&K due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. In view of extension of lockdown, it is necessary to enhance technology and connectivity especially in the domains of health, education and business.
He further said that due to prolonged lockdown under COVID-19 pandemic, the lives of the students have crippled and there was miserable impact on their education. Recently, the Government of India has launched various new digital classes like Google classes but contrary to it, many poor students who have no access to WiFi are suffering badly. The online Google classes and other informative websites like YouTube, Google books etc. are not able to operate on the weak 2G internet services.
“It is serious concern as the present scenario is hampering the education systems badly. It is the need of hour that the Union Government as well as UT should take significant measures to restore 4G services so that the students of rural areas can cope with contemporary education systems,” he asserted.
