Former J&K Chief Secretary Tyabji passes away

JAMMU, Jan 17: Former Chief Secretary and Advisor to then Governor of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State, Hindal Haider Tyabji, passed away last evening at New Delhi.
He is survived by his wife Nalini, two children Satyadeep and Chinmaya Misra, son-in-law Apurva Pande and granddaughter Anvaya Pande.
The cremation was held this evening at Green Park Electric Crematorium.
Hindal Tyabji served J&K in various capacities, including as Chief Secretary in 1994 and as Advisor to then Governor. His contribution as Chairman to rebuild JK Public Service Commission is well recognized. He had a deep understanding of the happenings in the State and was widely respected for his commitment to a righteous and fair approach in dealing with the situation. A gentleman to the core, Late Tyabji impressed and inspired many officers.
Tyabji has left behind a number of grieving admirers in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. His death has come as personal shock to All India Services Officers of the erstwhile State of J&K. Many of them, who had the privilege of working with him during his distinguished career in Jammu and Kashmir, have described him as an accomplished old school civil servant, who always stood for the right values and causes.
His towering personality, hand holding of younger colleagues and helpful attitude was highly praised by his erstwhile colleagues.
