REASI, Aug 17: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive, teams of Reasi Forest Division again foiled attempts by miscreants to encroach upon Forest land and retrieved approx 10 kanals of Forest land from the clutches of the encroachers.
A team of Reasi Forest Division led by DFO Reasi Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh, alongwith Rakesh Sharma, Range Officer Reasi, evicted one Guggar of Bidda from Forest land in Co. 32/R by demolishing the illegal structure raised by him on Forest land. The eviction process was successfully executed in presence of Executive Magistrate appointed for the purpose with the assistance of Police and FPF personnels. The encroacher was evicted after following prescribed procedure as laid down in Section 48-A of J&K Forest Act. The total Forest land freed in the process is approximately 05 kanals and has been retrieved back by way of fencing. The material used for raising of structure viz. CGI sheets and angle iron stood seized under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act and the offender is being proceeded against under Section 6(f) of J&K Forest Act. The whole eviction operation was closely monitored by CF West Sameer Bharti Gupta.
In yet another attempt approximately 05 kanals of Forest land has been retrieved from the encroachers in Forest Co. no. 20/Th. and 05/Th. by a team of Forest officials of Thakarakote Range led by Sameer Ahmed, Range Officer Thakarakote. The Forest land measuring about 05 kanals has been retrieved in Kotecharwal and Gari areas of Thakarakote Range from the encroachers namely Karnail Singh and his brother Mohan Singh of Kotecharwal and Forooq and Kalo Ram, both R/o Gari. The above encroachers with nefarious designs had attempted to encroach upon Forest land by way of erecting Kacha structure and enclosing the Forest land with brushwood fencing which was completely removed and the forest land retrieved back.
DFO Reasi Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh, said that the encroachment on forest land shall be given zero tolerance and every inch of encroached forest land shall be freed from the clutches of the encroachers in future.
