KATHUA, Apr 21: In a prompt action, a team headed by Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua Vijay K. Verma, along with Vinay Khajuria, Range Officer, Kathua, Nitin Khajuria , BO Basantpur and other field functionaries vacated the forest land encroached by Mashu S/o Chatter Singh R/o Kenta, Basantpur, Tehsil and District Kathua in compartment 19/K of Dhanna Dhanore Beat, Basantpur Block of Kathua Forest Range.
The encroachment was removed by Forest team along with Forest Protection Force and Police personnel who immediately swung into action and started eviction proceedings under Section 6(b),(f), Sec.6(A) and 48(A) of J&K Forest Act 1987 AD and vacated the 10 kanal Forest land. A FIR has been registered against the offender. He has been arrested and criminal proceedings initiated against him.
Divisional Forest Officer Kathua briefed that Forest Department is very serious regarding such encroachment on forest land and it will take stringent action regarding illegal activities on forest resources.
