UDHAMPUR, Feb 29: In a anti-encroachment drive, a team of Jammu Forest Division with the assistance of District Administration Udhampur and Police Department demolished one illegal structure in Forest Compartment of Kharta-I Beat Jindrah Range falling in Jeeda, Darsoo village.
The structure was illegally constructed by Hem Raj, son of Hari Ram of Jeeda and Govind Ram, son of Paras Ram of Darsoo.
The team seized angle iron door, frames GI Sheet and retrieved back 46 kanal and 11 marlas forest land from the encroachers.
The team of forest officials was led by Ravi Kumar Range Officer Jindrah, Vinod Kumar Range Officer, Kalidhar, alongwith Ajay Choudhary Block Officer Jindrah, Shiv Kumar Incharge Block Officer, Mansar and other forest field staff of Jindrah and Kalidhar Forest Range. Police team headed by SI Vijay Kumar Sharma, Saifullah Shah Naib Tehsildar, Roun Domel was present as Duty Magistrate to tackle any law and order problem.
When contacted, Alok Maurya, DFO Jammu mentioned that assistance for the anti encroachment operation was readily provided by Piyush Singla Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and Rajeev Pandey SSP Udhampur. Subsequently, a joint team of Forest Department and Police Department was constituted for removal of said encroachment. Moreover, despite resistance from the encroachers the operation was smoothly conducted. He further mentioned that damage case has already been booked and the area is being proposed for immediate fencing.
Higher officials including Dr Mohit Gera PCCF J&K, K Ramesh Kumar CCF Jammu and Samuel Changkija CF East Circle directed the officials to take all the measures to prevent encroachment on forest land.
