Excelsior Correspondent
SUNDERBANI, May 13: Member Parliament from Jammu-Poonch constituency and senior Congress leader  Madan  Lal Sharma asked the Panchayat members to link the people with social protection  and development schemes as UPA Government has opened the gates of treasures, especially for J&K State.
Addressing a public gathering here today, the Congress MP said that Congress led Government has brought  Food Security Bill in the Parliament by virtue of which around 70 % rural people  and 50 % urban poor will get food on negligible price for all members of the family.  This Bill, will certainly bring big relief for the poor people, he added.
Mr Sharma also demanded that the BADP grant should be enhanced as the present allocation is not enough even to cater to the basic amenities for the border population. He asked the officers to strictly follow the Government guidelines while making proposal  and implementation of BADP schemes. He also felt the need to improve  the quality of education in Government schools. He said huge funds are being provided by the Centre on improving education standards, under SSA and RAMSA  schemes to the State.
Ravinder Sharma, MLC  while speaking on the occasion highlighted various public issues  and stressed for early redressal.  He said there was urgent need of special recruitment drive in military and para-military forces for the youth  hailing from Sunderbani and Nowshera.
SDM  and SP Nowshera besides Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Rajouri were also present during the meeting.
