REASI, May 23: Folk Artists from Jammu region today enthralled the audience with their colourful dance and music presentations held at Bakkal, a village located in Reasi district.
The event was organized by Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) with the collaboration of District Administration Reasi. Village Bakkal has remained center of attraction during past as the world’s highest Railway Bridge is under construction in this village.

DDC Chairperson, Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag, Deputy Commissioner Babila Rakwal, Vice Chairperson District Development Council, Reasi, Advocate Sajra Qadir , Joyti Raina Slathia, ADDC, Sanjev Rana Additional Secretary JKAACL, Ashok Thakur BDC Chairman, Suresh Singh Tehsildar Bakal were in the presidium.
200 folk artists from Jammu took part in the event, which was held under the supervision of Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Chairperson Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag appreciated the Academy and District Administration for holding this mega event in Bakal village which is very significant in terms of Dogra culture and heritage.
In her address, DC Babila Rakwal said that the objective behind organising the festival was ‘to promote our traditional and cultural heritage and make our younger generation part of it and to carry it forward for future generations and to provide youth a platform to display and showcase their talent.’
Earlier, Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary Academy, in his welcome address, stated that today’s programme was a part of a series of events which are going on in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir to showcase cultural heritage of UT of J&K.
The technical team of Academy included Sanjeev Gupta, Cultural Officer, Anil Tickoo ACO and Pankaj Sharma who had designed the show.
Prominent among those who performed with their respective parties, included Krishan Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Shaptan Singh, Naresh Singh, Asha Kumari, Sandeep Singh, Bodh Raj, Rajkumar, Kashmir Singh, Unique Dancing Institute and party, Harman Dance Institute, Mukhtyar Singh, Jyoti Raina, Rakesh Kumar, Abhinay Kala Manch, Sangam Theatre Group Nukkad, Savrang Kala Sangam, Chaman Lehri, Naveen Kumar, Nirmal Koul, Pallavi Koul, Nirbhay Singh, Sapna, Sunil Sharma Synth, Joginder, Rohit Kumar, Sahil Jasotra, Rakesh Jasotra, Babu Ram, Shammi Dhamir, Basant Viyogi and Sat Salarvi while Kusum Tickoo anchored the programme.
