NEW DELHI, Sept 23: A delegation of Federation of Industries, Jammu led by its chairman Lalit Mahajan, along with Ajit Bawa, Co- Chairman FOIJ and president, Kathua Industrial Unit Association met with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Chairman, SP Singh Parihar, in his office chamber at New Delhi to discuss the issue related to the pending cases for the revocation of closer notices issued by the CPCB in respect of the cement manufacturing units located in J&K.
During the course of discussions, Mr Mahajan informed the Chairman that a large number of cement manufacturing units have already installed the on line monitoring equipments and accordingly the intimation in this regard has been communicated to the Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi by the State Pollution Control Board but till date no action has been taken by the Department to revoke the closure notices for the reason best known to them. With this a mumber of units were closed down and thousands of employees are facing the retrenchment.
Mr Mahajan further draw the attention of Chairman that due to unrest in J&K a number of times the State Govt has suspended the internet services from last three months resulting in difficulty for the Department to monitor the working of pollution control devices from outside the State. It was also brought into the notice of chairman that in spite of the clearance given by the J&K State Pollution Control Board, for the working of the online monitoring system in case of some Units, the concern officials failed to revoke the closure notices.
The Chairman assured the delegation that all the pending cases of the cement manufacturing units, who have already installed the Online Monitoring System, shall be cleared immediately & the closure notices shall be revoked accordingly.
