JAMMU: The school timings have been changed while air and rail service remained hit as there was no respite from prevailing foggy conditions in this winter capital of the State.
The foggy weather conditions continue and will prevail for next three days bringing no respite from chill, a MeT official here today said.
He said conditions will also remain dry till January 27. “Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the state till January ending.
Presently, there is no sign of arrival of western disturbance in the state, which mainly trigger rains. So the weather is likely to remain dry by end of the month,” he said.
Meanwhile, in view of prevailing harsh cold conditions, the School Board of Education has changed the school timings.
As per an order issued here, the timings of all the schools including government and private, has been changed from 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs from January 22 to 30. Violators will be dealt strictly, said an order.
However, foggy and chilly conditions hit normal life in the winter capital by affecting road, air and rail traffic. “Due to dense fog, the air traffic was affected in the state,” said the official adding that the departure and arrival of flights is few hours late from their scheduled timings.
