JAMMU, Mar 13: Continuing with the Budget discussion in Legislative Council today Bashir Ahmad Veeri appreciated the Finance Minister for presenting creative and reforms oriented budget.
He said that budget reflects inclusive growth and people friendly policy of the Government. He called for more attention to agriculture and allied activities and asked the Government to take more steps to increase Food Production, Horticulture Production, Livestock Production and Safron production within the State so that dependence and imports are reduced. He also called for increase in fund allocation under SKEWPY.
Nurboo Gialchan while appreciating the Finance Minister for the budget said that tax collection and management has improved and steps should be taken to avoid un-necessary expenditure for better results. He asked the Government to lay transmission lines in Leh and Kargil and provide extra funds for completing power projects in Ladakh region. Highlighting deficiency of staff in various departments in Ladakh region, he said that all these departments should be provided adequate staff to function smoothly. He also welcomed remuneration for Sarpanchs and Panchs.
Dr. Shehnaz Ganai lauded the Finance Minister for announcing several people friendly incentives and concessions including remuneration to Sarpanchs and Panchs and enhancement in rate for daily wagers. While welcoming financial assistance provided in the budget for poor girls, she called for more focus and support for a wider role of women in the States socio-economic development policy. She also called for increase in allocation of funds under BADF.
Subash Chander Gupta termed the budget presented by the Finance Minister as balanced and farmer friendly and appreciated him for announcing VAT concessions on farm equipment. He said that power sector has received due focus to address critical energy needs and the amnesty scheme to recover power dues is a welcome step. He also called for filling up posts of doctors to improve the health sector.
Naresh Gupta while lauding the Finance Minister for a comprehensive and people friendly budget welcomed the power policy adopted by the Government. He said that with number of power projects coming up especially in the Chenab valley, it will go a long way in addressing critical energy needs of the State. He said that people affected by these power projects should be properly rehabilitated and Government should ensure that people of the area derive maximum benefits from these projects. He also called for expediting work on Bani-Basohli road for better connectivity and promotion of tourism along the route.
