JAMMU, Sept 9: The Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today held a day-long demonstration in front of Directorate of Health Services, Jammu in support of their demands including release of pending 10-months salary.
The protesting FMPHs alleged that they are at the age of starvation as the Government has not released their salary for the last more than 10 months.
“We are facing immense financial problems and are living the life of penury, as despite repeated requests made to the Director, Family Welfare, J&K, for releasing our salaries, nothing has been done except giving assurances”, they added.
President, JKMEF, Sushil Sudan, said that the funds for the salary of FMPHWs were paid by the Union Government in four installments in a year with one installment paid for three months. But last year, fewer funds were released to the department so it could not pay the salary of these workers, he added.
He further said even State Minister for Health and Medical Education had assured these workers that their salaries will be paid very soon, but nothing done was done in this regard.
The protestors urged the Government to release the funds under A/C Head 2211 Family Welfare as early as possible, the proposal of which is lying in the Finance Department for last so many months.
