Indian women continue to achieve more and more milestones to create record of the sorts in every area, field of activity that brings laurels and pride to the country and to them. The latest one is with regard to flying a fighter Hawk advanced jet aircraft by Flight Lieutenant Mohana Singh. With this daring successful effort, of course, nothing less than a feat, she became the first woman fighter pilot to fly by day the jet. It is a matter of joy that the fighter pilot has trained herself in flying both air to air combat and air to ground missions. Our Air Force in the process of becoming stronger day by day to meet any type of challenges added this moment in its valiant chapters.
When the woman pilot proudly safely landed after a gruelling 4 – aircraft combat sortie at Kalaikunda Air Force Station in West Bengal , the last syllabus sortie of being fully operational on the said jets had been completed. This type of daring , courageous and heroic endeavour was going to motivate many other aspiring women fighter pilots to vie with one another to become the ones like Flt. Lt. Mohana Singh at the earliest. We know thatsimilarly a few days back , Flight Lt., BhawanaKanth became the first daytime woman fighter pilot to fly a Mig-21 aircraft. We are proud that women fighter pilots can undertake missions involving firing of rockets, guns and dropping high calibre bombs . We wish more and more hours of flying on the latest fighter jets to Flt. Lt. Mohana Singh and others aspiring for achieving such feats.
