This has reference to the news item’Sham inaugurates first ever exclusive flower market in Valley’ DE Oct 15.
The coming up of a flower market in the State is a healthy development as it will certainly give a big boost to commercial floriculture in the State.
It may be mentioned here that despite the State having great potential for commercial floriculture, it has not been exploited much by the concerned people. Jammu Division of the State also has tremendous potential for floriculture. Lakhs of devotees throng Katra to pay obeisance to Mata Vaishno Devi.
To cater to the needs of these devotees of businessmen here import flowers from other State of the country. For this the State has spend a hefty amount and which goes to the coffers of other States. If floriculture industry in strengthened in the State,may people will get involved in it. This will generate money as well as employment for a large chunk of population in the State.
The Government should devise a policy for this purpose which would ensure financial and technical help to the entrepreneurs.
