Srinagar, Apr 27: Around 46 flood affected families residing in SRTC Buildings at Pampore, have been asked to vacate the premises.
Flood victims said: “Authorities asked us to vacate the buildings as soon possible. Government is accommodating Darbar Move employees in government buildings rather than rented accommodations; that is why the flood affected families have been asked to vacate the buildings.”
These families are living here since September last year. “Assistant Commissioner Revenue Sajjad Ahmad Qadri, Tehsildar Pampore Shabir Darzi and some Officers from R&B department came here and asked us to vacate the accommodation within 2 days”, they said.
The residential houses of most of the families collapsed in September floods and houses of some others were still under water. “Tehsildar Pampore Shabir Ahmad Darzi said they have given them one month to vacate. “We will provide them rent money”, he said
“If the government doesn’t vacate them they will make this buildings, a permanent abode. Only five families are registered to live in the official accommodation”, he added.
