KATHUA, Feb 9: In its drive against illegal mining and mushrooming of stone crushers, the Flood Control Division, Kathua issued notice to another 21 stone crushers running in Ravi river. The order was issued by Executive Engineer, Flood Control Division, Kathua Om Raj. He warned the stone crushers of doing the illegal mining in the river Ravi without seeking permission from the concerned Department and violating the Water Resources Regulation and Management Act 2010.
The stone crushers were asked to stop the illegal mining in Ravi river or submit the allotment papers if any within a day positively failing which action under rules will be initiated against them.
The Executive Engineer, Flood Control Division, Kathua, Om Raj said that the action was taken on the ground reports taken by AEE of the Department after assessing the situation. He said that the Department had granted permission to stone crushers in Ravi river but they are extracting the material in their own way violating the norms. The Department has taken the matter seriously after assessing the ground water level and other ill effects of illegal mining. He added that the allied departments were also informed in written about the notice issued to 34 stone crushers running in the river.
He said that District Mining Department, district administration , Revenue Department and Police Department was also informed about the notice issued to Stone crushers .
The stone crusher issued the notice today included M/s Kathlore Stone crusher , M/S C&C Construction Co,M/S Balaji Stone Crusher ,M/S Ashok Stone Crusher ..M/S Jai Maa Stone Crusher, M/S Shree Ganesh crusher, M/S B&V Stone Crusher, M/S Kalyani stone crusher , M/S Lakhdata Stone crusher , M/S Jai Rajputana Stone crusher, M/S Shiv Shankar Screener ,M/S Mahadev Screener, M/S Shree Sai Stone Crusher , M/S Satya Sai Stone Crusher, M/S Om Stone Crusher , M/S Faith Stone Crusher , M/S Sai Baba Stone Crusher, M/S PP Screener, M/S Puri Stone Crusher , M/S JK Grit Industries and M/S Jai Rajputana Sand screener .
It is recalled that the J&K Water Resources Regulation Authority led by it’s Chairman Pramodh Jain accompanied by its members visited Ravi river and assessed the ground situation of mining and water level and environment threat created due to illegal mining.
They noticed that even the extraction is also going on just few metres away of newly under construction Kerrian Gandyal bridge posing direct threat to its foundation said Executive Engineer PWD, Kathua Dinesh Rampal . He added that the PWD also showed its serious concern over illegal extraction near the bridge and wrote to higher authorities about the ground situation.
The Ravi Action Committee is continuously protesting against the illegal mining in river Ravi posing threats to environment, high volume of pollution and decreasing of water level. The matter was also reported to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti .
