Flood affected private schools decry Govt apathy

SRINAGAR, Apr 23:  The Jammu and Kashmir Private Schools United Front (JKPSUF) has strongly criticized the State Government for not providing relief to flood affected private schools.
The president of JKPSUF, G N Var, while addressing a conference of private schools of North Kashmir said that on one hand Government has failed to provide even a penny as compensation and on the other hand High Court has asked all flood affected and non-flood affected schools to waive two months fee.
Var said that the flood effected schools had to axe 15000 private teachers and associated staff, because they could not pay them salaries after floods.
“As Government has failed to provide relief to flood effected schools and their students, JKPSUF has decided to constitute a special welfare fund that will help the affected students anywhere in Kashmir with books and scholarship”, Var said.
The JKPSUF urged the Government to come clean on non-performing government schools. “We are ready to join hands in a public-private partnership and help those government schools, because these schools are affecting our entire education sector too. We will be meet Chief Minister and put forward our proposal to help the education sector.”
