Five quintal forest produce seized

Srinagar, June 19: Police today said that it recovered five quintal forest produce during checking at Gantmulla area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and arrested one person.
A police spokesman said during intervening night of June 18 and 19, a checkpoint was established at Gantmulla by cops. “During checking of vehicles, one sumo vehicle bearing registration number JKO5A 1599 was intercepted from which illegally forest product wan khakar (Podophyllum hasandrum), 21 bags weighing about 458 kilogram were recovered.
“The driver of the vehicle identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Bhat was arrested. A case under FIR number 18/2017 under section 279 RPC 6-forest act has been registered against the accused while probe has been initiated,” he added.
