RAJOURI, Dec 20: The sleuths of Excise Department today arrested five persons and destroyed 350 litres of lahan besides recovering 40 litres of illicit liquor.
An official said that the sleuths of Excise Department conducted raids at various villages of the district and arrested five persons, destroyed 350 litres of lahan and 2 working still. 40 litres of illicit liquor was also recovered from their possession, he added.
The arrested persons were identified as Jagdish Raj, son of Lal Chan and Satish Kumar, son of Puran Dass, both residents of Lam, Nowshera, Balvinder Singh, son of Jasvinder Singh of Nanyal, Nowshera, Bena Devi, wife of Bal Krishan of Dhabur, Nowshera and Vijay Kapoor, son of Rajinder Kapoor of Ward No 6, Nowshera.
All the accused persons were booked under Excise Act.
The arrest was made by Dr Sajid Maijd, Inspector, Excise under the supervision of Ghurmohan Singh, Excise and Taxation Officer, Rajouri-Poonch range and Anuradha Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu.
