SAMBA, May 29: Fire engulfed the nursery of Horticulture Department at Vijaypur this afternoon damaging 150 fruit saplings completely.
As per reports the fire broke out in the nursery of the Horticulture Department this afternoon and the nursery of Guava, Lichi, Mango plants spreading over ten kanals of land were completely damaged while Aelovera plants spreading over two kanals of land were also damaged.
This was stated by the officials of Horticulture Department who however failed to ascertain the reason of the fire.
The fire was brought under control after two fire tenders one each from Ramgarh and Samba reached the site to fight the blaze. The Horticulture District Officer Samba Abhinav Gupta also reached the spot soon after the incident to assess the loss.
He urged the officials to maintain a vigil as there is every apprehension of fire incidents taking place due to scorching heat.
