Fire breaks out at Civil Secretariat, record, other items gutted

JAMMU, Mar 30: A fire broke out inside the Civil Secretariat complex here today.

As per official sources, flames were noticed at a room used by the Rural Development Department at around 9:50 am. The blaze quickly spread to adjoining rooms.
Fire tenders were pressed in to douse the blaze, sources said, adding that the fire was brought under control after an hour.
Records lying in the room used by the RDD, computer and all other electric items were damaged in the ablaze.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the first floor of a prefabricated double-storey structure on the backside of the main building, sources said, Parade Police has taken cognizance in this regard to ascertain exact cause of the fire.
