Fire breaks out in NHPC receiving station

SRINAGAR, June 3: A fire broke out in a receiving station of National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) at Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
As per the reports, the fire broke out inside the NHPC receiving station and later engulfed adjoining huts. Soon after the fire, local volunteers living in the area and fire tenders from Baramulla reached the spot and tried to douse the flames.
According to local reports, the fire incident might have caused huge loss to machinery and electric equipment as it was looking a major fire.
Station House Officer (SHO), Boniyar said that fire tenders were immediately pressed to douse the fire and the flames have been almost controlled with the efforts of locals, police and team of fire tenders.
He said that the cause of the fire was not known immediately. A case has been registered to ascertain the cause of the fire.
