UDHAMPUR, June 9: Fire broke out at Grid Station Udhampur plunging the town into darkness for some time, late this evening.
As the fire was controlled soon and no major damage was caused, the electricity was restored within half an hour. Exact cause of fire could not be immediately ascertained.
The incident took place around 10.20 pm when the Grid Station caught fire because of some minor fault and apparent overheating of the system. The fire was controlled soon and the power was also restored by 10.45, said an official.
