RAJOURI, June 14: Massive forest fire along the Line of Control in Chityari area of Keri sector has put the Army and the villagers on high alert.
The sources said that the fire which apparently started from that side of the LoC spread in many parts of Keri sector. It also caused partial damage to some Army infrastructure and cables. Some of the people from their hamlets close to the LoC escaped for safety. The Army personnel and the villagers were fighting fire and they informed the concerned Forest officials as well. The fire had been spread to nearly 3 sq kms in Chityari area. An alert was sounded in this belt.
It is pertinent to mention here that in Balakote and Balnoi area of Mendhar, similar fire is going on for the last two days and it has caused damage to the flora and fauna besides the Army infrastructure.
