POONCH, Dec 21: Police have formally registered a case against the Telecom Company laying cables on Mandi- Loran road which led to the bus accident near Plera village on December 8, resulting into the death of 13 passengers.
Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Rahul Yadav today told the Excelsior that inquiry committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, has submitted its report. He said on the basis of the report a formal FIR has been registered against the Company which was involved in laying cables on Mandi -Loran Road.
He said a wheel of the bus got trapped in the semi- abandoned trench on the road side, while giving passage to another vehicle on this road and rolled down into the Nallah.
He claimed that road was sufficient wider enough at that point but due to digging on Nallah side it turned narrow. He said it was also the fault of driver who apparently showed carelessness while giving passage to the other vehicle.
The PMGSY agency has also been directed by the Deputy Commissioner to properly maintain the road and supervise restoration work by the company.
Yadav further said that apart from Rs 5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia/ relief to the kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 to the 14 injured, has been sanctioned by the Union Government from PM’s Relief Fund.
