SRINAGAR, May 1: Police registered a case against National Conference Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) and arrested two security guards of a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Member Legislative Council (MLC) Sofi Yusuf for thrashing son of a BJP leader.
Police registered a case (FIR 09/18 dated 28-04-2018) against MLA Pahalgam Altaf Kaloo for his misconduct and assaulting a Government servant in Sarbal area of Pahalgam.
The case was registered against him for allegedly assaulting Waheed Ahmad Bhat of Aishmuqam who raised question over corruption in CDF funds.
Police arrested two Personal Security Officers (PSOs) of BJP leader after they allegedly thrashed a civilian and fired in the air in Banihal last night.
The incident happened last night at around 9 pm when two PSOs of BJP MLC Sofi Yusuf thrashed a civilian Amir Saleem for not giving passage to the vehicle of the MLC on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Banihal despite being signalled. Amir Saleem is son of BJP leader Muhammad Saleem Bhat of Banihal.
The locals assembled and caught hold of the PSOs. One of the PSO fired a shot in the air to scare away the locals. However, both the PSOs were caught and handed over to the police.
A case was registered on a written complaint under FIR number 61/2018 u/s 307 341 323 RPC and 7/27 Arms Act at Police Station Banihal.
