FIR against Health Minister’s brother

JAMMU, June 13: After the lapse of over 43 days, the police has finally registered a case on the directions of State High Court against the two doctors including a real brother of Minister In-charge Health Shabir Ahmed Khan for the death of 18-year-old boy due to negligence in Rajouri hospital.
A senior police officer said that an FIR No. 297/ 2013 under Section 304-A RPC  has been registered in Rajouri Police Station against Dr Vijay Gupta, ENT Specialist  and Dr Mohd Bashir Khan (Anaesthetist), real brother of  MOS, Health  (Independent charge) Shabir Ahmed Khan. On the directions of State High Court, the case has been registered. He said the police has booked both the doctors for negligent death and further investigation was in progress. He said the law will take its own course.
The court has also directed the District Police Rajouri to deal with the compliant of the petitioner in accordance with the law, without being influenced by the observations made by the District/ Judicial Magistrate. The deceased Shariq Shahdab, happened to be the nephew (Sister’s son) of  MLA Darhal, Ch Zilfiqar Ali and DC Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal. Both the doctors are said to have been shifted recently to Sarwal hospital in Jammu. Fearing their arrest, they have also applied for a bail in the High Court.
