FIR against BDO, 4 others

JAMMU, Dec 14: State Vigilance Organization today registered FIR against Anil Kumar, the then BDO Gandoh, Baldev Singh, the then Secretary Panchayat Halqa Gurrehrah, Mohd Aslam, the then Technical Assistant Panchayat Gurrehrah, Punjab Singh, the then Gram Sewak Panchayat Halqa Gurrehrah and Mohd Ayaz, the then Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Gurrehrah in the much publicized MGNREGA scam.
According to the Vigilance spokesman, a verification was conducted into the allegations of drawal of fictitious payments under MGNREGA scheme in the Panchayat Halqa Gurrekrah without execution of works and by preparing fake job cards in the name of ineligible and expired persons.
During verification, it came to fore that during the financial year 2011-12 works under MGNREGA involving Rs 19.50 lakh were approved for execution in the Panchayat. However, works were found either unexecuted or partially executed and the payments for these work were released in the name of job card holders, which included underage students, expired persons and those with more than one job card.
It also came to the fore that accused persons by abuse and misuse of  their official position and in league with Mohd Ayaz, Sarpanch of the Panchayat illegally and fraudulently drawn payments against the unexecuted works by preparing fake job cards.
Out of 18 works, spot inspection of 10 works conducted by Engineering wing of VOJ revealed loss of Rs 3,15,199 to the State exchequer.
