SRINAGAR, Mar 31: National Conference (NC) today expressed concern over the alleged shortage of essential items across Kashmir and urged the Government to sustain the supply chain.
In a handout NC Spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar said, the inevitable lockdown has put the lives of poor at risk.
He demanded financial support for daily wagers, hawkers, laborers and other economically weaker sections of the society.
Imran said that the Government should take steps to help those at need by setting up community kitchens, releasing pending wages and stepping up procurement to protect agriculture sector.
“It is for the Government to ensure that everyone has access to food, medical aid and the poor section of the society is not left unattended,” he said.
He further claimed that most of the provisional stores are closed and those which are open run out of basic essentials like cooking oil, sugar etc.
