Finance minister presents 2nd budget of PDP-BJP coalition in J&K

SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu today presented second Budget of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition Government in the Legislative Assembly here.
Opposition members from National Conference (NC), Congress and independent Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid, were on their toes demanding tabling of report on Handwara killing as promised by Speaker Kavinder Gupta.
However, this was the first Budget of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as the last year the budget was presented when her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was heading the Government.
Dr Drabu, presented his second budget as finance minister, came on foot from Civil Secretariat to Legislature complex with a brief case carrying the Budget papers.
He was accompanied by senior officials of his ministry. Last year, the budget was presented on March 22 in Jammu, the winter capital of the State.
However, the Budget could not be presented in March this year as the state was under Governor’s rule as PDP-BJP could not form the government after the death of Chief minister Mr Sayeed in AIIMS, New Delhi on January 7 this year. (AGENCIES)
