Srinagar, Dec 28: High Court today directed the Government to finalize the draft action plan with regard to maintenance and beautification of parks and gardens in Srinagar city.
The Division Bench of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice M K Hanjura was informed that Chief Town Planner has prepared a draft action plan for properly maintaining and developing the parks and creating further green spaces. Accordingly, DB directed the Chief Secretary to finalize the draft action plan and report the court by next date.
Court has been informed that a draft action plan for properly maintaining and developing the parks and gardens in the State and in addition creating of more green spaces, has been prepared and submitted to Commissioner Secretary Housing Department for approval.
The DB observed that parks and gardens are main attraction for the tourists and main source for promoting the tourism. There should full care of all the parks and gardens for all four seasons, DB directed.
Director Floriculture was directed to submit the fresh list of parks & gardens which are in public use in Srinagar city and the measures adopted for maintenance of these parks and gardens.
Court has taken suo moto cognizance of a letter addressed by SHRC Chairman Bilal Nazkir (Retd Justice) to Chief Justice of the State with regard to encroachments and maintaining of parks in Srinagar city.
