JAMMU, Nov 23: The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC)-I today directed the Ladakh Affairs Department to take-up the matter of existing and new mini hydro projects with concerned Union Ministry.
The Committee which met, under the chairmanship of MLC, Ghulam Nabi Monga discussed and reviewed the functioning of Ladakh Affairs Department in detail.
Legislators, Ali Mohammad Dar, Ashok Khajuria, Sofi Yousuf and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri) attended the meeting and gave the suggestions regarding the overall development of Ladakh region.
The Secretary Ladakh Affairs, DCs of Leh and Kargil apprised the Committee about the developmental activities in different sectors being carried out by the Central and State Government agencies, besides physical and financial achievements.
The Committee directed the concerned authorities to expedite the pace of work on Zojila Tunnel to provide all weather connectivity to Ladakh region.
The Committee also directed the concerned authorities to fill up all the vacant posts in health and education intuitions so that the people may not face inconvenience in this regard.
The Committee further directed for strengthening of the storage system so that distribution of food grain in the region does not get affected during winter season.
The Committee directed the Secretary Ladakh Affairs to take up the matter with concerned authority for early filling up of the post of SDM Nobra which is lying vacant, creating problems for the local people.
The Committee also reviewed the status of Solar Energy System, upgradation of Tourism, Road infrastructure, Irrigation, Horticulture and other sectors in the twin districts of the region.
Among others, senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
