This refers to the article ‘Filing of online RTI application’ DE Jan 9, 2018. The article has deliberated on some important aspects of filing of RTI application. These aspects deserve to be taken note of by the concerned authorities. It has been observed that most of the officers, even high ranking officers do not like the Act. They usually find ways and means to avoid the information seeker. Now, they are busy to make it ineffective. To make RTI Act effective, it is necessary that concerned officers should be punished. It may also be said here that Information Commission is also to be blamed to some extent for its soft approach towards non-compliant officers. The RTI Act would lose its tinge if its tenets are not followed in letter and spirit.
