Fight against pandemic: DSK extends support to admn

JAMMU, May 13: Dogra Sahayata Kendra (DSK) has offered accommodation comprising a building with capacity of 100 beds at Bari Brahmana for use by health authorities for the patients with mild COVID symptoms.
This was stated by Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman DSK Committee during an online meeting with Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Charak said that higher COVID mortality rate in Jammu and the trend of bringing COVID positive patients to hospitals at a late stage is alarming and emphasized that a mechanism needs to be put in place at the earliest for close monitoring of the functioning of the official helpline numbers so that the people are able to get timely and satisfactory responses.
Underlining the need to expedite the installation of oxygen generating plants in hospitals, Ajay Khajuria, Convener Coordinating Committee of Kendra, suggested that the work was required to be monitored by Mechanical Engineering Department and specific timeline and targets need to be assigned in the matter.
Gambhir Dev, Incharge Youth Wing, DSS said that donors had expressed willingness to provide diesel generating sets of 15 KVA and 25 KVA capacity which could be used in the new oxygen generating plants.
It was also suggested during the meeting by Maj. Gen. (Retd) Dr Sunita Kapoor that to overcome the shortage of nursing staff, services of the final year students of nursing colleges could be utilized.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the participants that requisite measures were being taken by the Government to deal with the situation in a holistic manner and disclosed that the measures announced by the Lieutenant Governor were being vigorously implemented.
