JAMMU, Oct 24: Keeping a tight vigil over the gambling on Diwali festival, police arrested thirty two gamblers including Field Officer of Agriculture Department along with Rs 1,50,505 stake money and playing cards from different areas.
As per police sources, police team from Reasi Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh arrested three gamblers including Field Officer of Agriculture Department. The accused have been identified as Mubarak Hussain (Field Officer, Agriculture Deptt), son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Ward No 10, district Reasi, Ajit Singh, son of Lal Singh of Bida, district Reasi and Ashwani Kumar, son of Mansa Ram, a resident of Maadi Reasi. Stake money of Rs 59,970 along with playing cards were recovered from them.
Meanwhile, police team from Digiana Police Post conducted a raid in Shastri Nagar area and arrested four gamblers along with Rs 4,700 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Vishwanath, son of Kansheri Lal, Bansi Lal, son of Bari Lal, Gopi, son of Jhandi Lal and Jamna, son of Kallo, all residents of Sanjay Nagar.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post Digiana PSI Ashok Bajaj made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Paramjeet Singh, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SP South Rahul Malik.
Police team from Nowabad Police Station conducted a raid at Dogra Chowk Park, Qasim Nagar and arrested five gamblers along with Rs 2,200 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Gharu Ram, son of Gathu Ram, Vicky Kumar, son of Gopal Krishan, Raj Singh, son of Kirpal Singh and Mohan Lal, son of Moti Lal, all residents of Qasim Nagar and Suresh Kumar, son of Dev Raj of Chand Nagar.
Gangyal police conducted a raid at Gangyal Garden and arrested 8 gamblers. The accused have been identified as Balbir Kumar, son of Natha Ram of Mohodhpur, Bishnah, Rajinder Singh, son of Krishan Chand of Baggan, Billawar, district Kathua, Rattan Chand, son of Shangu Ram of Marhoon, Billawar, district Kathua, Shadi Lal, son of Anant Ram of Bani, district Kathua, Prabhu, son of Dhumar Lal of Bihar, Sanjay Kumar, son of Anant Ram of Bihar, Vijay Kumar, son of Lakhan of Bihar and Mahesh Kumar, son of Tufanu Lal of Bihar, presently all are residing at Gangyal Garden. Stake money of Rs 4,250 and playing cards were recovered from the spot.
Trikuta Nagar police arrested 6 gamblers along with Rs 8,200 bet money and playing cards. The accused have been identified as Krishna, son of Prem Singh, Mohinder Kumar, son of Bharatia, Ashok Kumar, son of Sakhan Lal and Munna Lal, son of all residents of Chattisgarh, Bharju, son of Subash of Orissa, and Babu Ram, son of Aditya Ram of Madhya Pradesh. A case under Gambling Act has been registered at Trikuta Nagar police station and investigation started.
During intervening night of October 23 and 24, police team from Police Station Billawar acting on specific information arrested 6 gamblers along with Rs 71,185 stake money playing cards from Link Road Koti, Billawar. The arrested gamblers were identified as Romesh Singh, son of Punnu Ram of Tilla Tehsil Billawar, Raju, son of Jagdish Singh of Billawar, Anant Ram, son of Jamitu Ram of Dhar Dugnoo Tehsil Billawar, Kirpal Singh, son of Dhuni Chand of Tilla Tehsil Billawar, Karan Singh, son of Gian Singh of Tilla Tehsil Billawar, Parkash Singh, son of Bhuri Singh Garh Tehsil Billawar.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at concerned police stations and investigation started.
