Srinagar, May 15: FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), today announced the formal expansion of its J&K-Ladakh Chapter into Kashmir, saying the organisation was increasing its footprint in the Valley for the first time since the chapter was established in 2021.
Addressing a press conference here, Varuna Anand, former chairperson of the chapter and presently National Initiative Head for Textiles, Handlooms and Handicrafts at FICCI FLO, said the organisation had already enrolled members from Kashmir and was now planning wider outreach through entrepreneurship and welfare initiatives.

“After five years, we are making footprints in Kashmir for the first time. We already have a few members here, and we are happy about that. We are now increasing our footprint,” Anand said while speaking on behalf of Chapter Chairperson Varsha Bansal.
As part of its outreach in Kashmir, the organisation announced two events in Srinagar, including an eye camp for artisans and craftsmen at IICT, where more than 300 craftsmen are expected to undergo eye check-ups.
The organisation will also hold a “Vibrant Verve Pop-Up” exhibition on May 17 to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs and promote networking among women-led businesses.
Anand said FICCI FLO works towards women’s empowerment at grassroots, entrepreneurial and leadership levels.
Speaking at the press conference, Arti Chowdhary, immediate past chairperson of the chapter, said the exhibition aimed to support women entrepreneurs and expand the organisation’s presence in Srinagar.
“Our forum believes in the power to empower. Empowered women can empower other women,” she said, adding that the initiative, which began in 2023, had received an overwhelming response.
Chowdhary said the organisation had recently added more members from Kashmir and that 35 participants had already registered for the exhibition.
Senior Vice-Chairperson Rupika Sahai, Tanisha, Sona Mehta, Shipra Aggarwal and other members of the organisation were also present during the press conference.
