FD’s directive to DDOs

JAMMU, Feb 15: The Finance Department today called upon all Drawing and Disbursement Officers (DDOs) to credit all wrongly parked balances of money on March 31, 2019 to the Major Head of Civil Deposits or Revenue of the Government within a week’s time.
An order issued by Financial Commissioner (Finance Department) Dr Arun Kumar Mehta said all receipts of Government have to be remitted into treasury at the earliest and amount required for immediate use have to be drawn from treasury for disbursement.
“Contrary to the procedures, it has been observed that huge amounts of money have been parked in the accounts of DDOs for pretty long periods,’’ the order said, adding the amount has either been drawn from treasuries in advance and subsequently not utilized within the prescribed period or it related to schemes of the Government, the works in respect of which have not been executed within the schedule.
This, the order said, results in parking of money outside exchequer and has commensurate impact on the liquidity of Union Territory.
