FCS&CA fines 37 violators, seals 8 poultry, mutton shops

Srinagar, Mar 22: The Enforcement Squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Kashmir today carried out market checks in several Srinagar areas and collected over Rs 46 thousand as fine from 37 erring shopkeepers.
In this regard, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, who is the Assistant Director, Enforcement told Excelsior that during the market checking 8 wholesale poultry, as well as mutton shops, were also sealed for violation of the E.C.Act.
The officials said that the action was taken by the teams of FCS&CA after receiving complaints from different sections of the society regarding the illegal enhancement of rates of poultry and other products.
“The Enforcement squad spread out the teams in two zones of Srinagar City to conduct market checking. During the market checking 102 business establishments were inspected in different areas of Srinagar City like Lakhriyar, Soura, Buchpora, Pantha Chowk, Bemina, Lawaypora, Umer Abad etc,” FCS&CA said.
Officials said that such drives will continue in future as well and whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice.
