FCS&CA Deptt distributes 40K masks, 6000 sanitizers

JAMMU, Mar 31: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today procured 40,000 masks and 6000 sanitizers, with the CSR support of ICICI Bank and distributed the same among various essential services departments whose workers are engaged in maintaining daily services and supplies.
The masks and sanitizers were distributed among J&K police (Office of IGP Jammu), Jal Shakti Department (Office of Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu), JK Power Distribution Company (Office of MD, JKPDCL) and FCS&CA Department (Director, Jammu).
The masks will be given to hundreds of policemen, PHE/PDD workers, ration dealers, labourers, etc engaged in providing essential supplies. These masks and sanitizers were donated by the ICICI Bank to Secretary to the Government, FCS&CA Department, J&K, today.
J&K LG GC Murmu, in a meeting, on Monday had desired that Food and Civil Supplies Department should assist the efforts of health department by providing masks to public servants on duty.
Divisional Commissioner of Jammu as well as Kashmir has also been directed to provide masks to the citizens residing in the ‘red Zones’, which have been identified as pockets where strict lockdown has been ordered for containing the spread of COVID-19.
Department of Food & Civil Supplies has already placed orders for nearly 4 lakh masks (2 lakh each for Jammu and Kashmir Divisions) for intensifying the efforts.
